“I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? Where?”
Slowly, the sole of the oldest pair of slippers quietly brushed against the tender grass, what a sunny day! Sweats creased on my furrowed brows __
The thought of food released a quiet growl from my stomach, but there’s no food at home, “the remaining foodstuff finished yesterday”. Each step became a tussle, my legs apparently became heavier; faintly, a particular music playing in the background snapped me out of my thoughts… Briskly, I walked over, it was a competition to identify the fastest person to finish a bowl of Instant noodles…(deep sighs) Kikiski! I signed up and ate to my fill, with a merry heart, my feet began to take dancing steps. Hallelujah, Jehovah Jireh has shown up again!
Colossians 3:15b instructs us to be thankful always! However, sometimes, the urge to be thankful to God only occurs when we get our desires. Thanksgiving, of course, should not be periodical, rather, it must be a deliberate act. We must be intentional about thanking God in season and out of season. The act of appreciating Jehovah should be done with our tripartite self – spirit, soul and body for without Him we would have been six feet below the ground!
Thanksgiving flows from within,
A warm tingling sensation readily sustaining momentum,
Like a torrential river to our life-giving source,
The lily of the valley, the God Almighty;
The Alewilese of the Universe;
The Owibesebe of Heaven and Earth;
The Oranmonise fayati of all seasons;
The One that enthrones, dethrones and is not crowned by anyone;
The All Sufficient God;
The One that was, that is and that is to come;
Kabiyeeeeeeeeeeeesi!!!
So, take a 10ml table-spoonful of thanksgiving every moment before and after meal and cultivate a heart of gratitude to our God. We’ve got to be intentional about thanksgiving to our God by focusing everyday on all the amazing things He’s done and doing in our lives. Remember gratitude is not only beneficial to God. It is also good for us! Gratitude places us on a pedestal to get more from God and the people around us. It reveals the kind of persons we are. Make it a lifestyle!
Thanksgiving is a command, not an admonition. So, this is December, the 12th and last month in the wonder-filled year 2024. That you’re here still standing is worthy of your ‘Hodaya’, for many people who we started the year together with us have become history. Beloved, it’s another full circle in the year of Celebration Galore… Sure your cup has run over and your life, decorated with the Lord’s beauty! Put on your dancing shoes; let’s celebrate our God. What are you grateful for this morning?
HAPPY NEW MONTH DCA! WELCOME TO THE VERY LAST MONTH IN THE YEAR 2024! OF A TRUTH, OLUWA DARA SIWA!
